Liverpool eye Valencia ace Torres

Wed, 10/30/2019 - 15:34

Liverpool are reportedly in a three-way transfer race to sign Valencia star Ferran Torres, according to reports.

Torres broke into Valencia’s first-team back in 2017 and the 19-year-old has alerted Europe’s elite to his potential with a string of impressive performances for the La Liga outfit this term.

According to SportBild, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are both chasing the highly promising Spain U21 international ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims Liverpool are also very interested in Torres, with Jurgen Klopp on the hunt for attacking reinforcements to provide support for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Though Torres is tied into a deal with Valencia until 2021, the Spanish club are open to offers for the youngster.

It’s understood Valencia would do business for a fee of around €20m (£17m) at the end of the season.

Liverpool are also looking to strengthen in midfield and, earlier this month, Lewis Cook was heavily linked with the Merseyside giants.

However the Bournemouth and England midfielder played down rumours of a potential move to Anfield.

"I have just started playing football here [again]," Cook said.

Liverpool open transfer talks with Timo Werner

Tue, 10/29/2019 - 17:38

Liverpool have opened talks over a deal for Timo Werner and the RB Leipzig striker is keen to head to Anfield, transfer expert Ian McGarry claims.

Express Sport revealed earlier this month that Manchester United and Liverpool are eyeing the Germany international.

Leipzig are keen to keep hold of Werner, 23, until next summer.

However, McGarry claims Liverpool have opened talks over a deal for the striker.

The transfer expert went on to say Werner is keen to head to Anfield to link up with fellow German Jurgen Klopp.

"Timo Werner is a target for Manchester United and Liverpool in the January window but it may be the summer before he actually makes the move,” McGarry said on Reach Plc’s Transfer Window podcast.

"Raphael [Honigstein] told us that it was widely believed the player has a recision clause in his contract but no-one as of yet knows what it is.

"What we can tell you on the transfer window today is that Liverpool have begun the process of formal negotiations with RB Leipzig for the player's transfer.

"We understand that contact has been made and indeed is ongoing between Liverpool and the German Bundesliga side and that Werner himself is keen for a move to Anfield.

"Of course, he would link up with countryman Jurgen Klopp."

Bournemouth star responds to Liverpool transfer rumours

Wed, 10/23/2019 - 12:00

Rumoured Liverpool target Lewis Cook has opened up on transfer speculation linking him with a move to Anfield.

The Bournemouth midfielder, who has recently returned from the ligament injury he sustained last December, has also been linked with Chelsea.

A recent report from the Daily Mail suggested Liverpool and Frank Lampard's Blues were both interested in acquiring the 22-year-old.

Cook, who has made four appearances for Eddie Howe's side this term, has responded to the rumours.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo, Cook admitted: "I have just started playing football here.

"I had been out for a long time, so I am just focusing on Bournemouth at the moment.

"I am loving being back and playing football. I just forget about it (the speculation) really.

"You’ve just got to focus on your football here and keep enjoying it.

"I am obviously enjoying playing football again - that’s all I am focusing on right now.

"I am enjoying my football here, it’s a great place to be and play great football."

Liverpool to challenge Manchester United for Jadon Sancho

Tue, 10/22/2019 - 15:05

Dietmar Hamann has backed Liverpool to make a move for Jadon Sancho in the next summer transfer window.

Manchester United have been the most heavily linked Premier League side to Sancho and have reportedly been quoted over £90million by Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho has transformed into one of football’s hottest commodities since ditching Manchester City for Dortmund and Dietmar Hamann claims his former side will be one of the Englishman’s main suitors next summer.

"What I hear is that Liverpool has great interest. I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties," he told Sky Germany.

"He’s from Manchester City and I do not know if he would come back again, and it’s a thing for Manchester United, too, if they’ve ever been to the rivals."

Sancho is under contract at Dortmund until 2022 and has scored 18 times and provided 30 assists in 66 appearances for the German side.

At 19, Sancho could cost upwards of £100m and Hamann admitted any monster fee would put Liverpool off.

"Sancho does not have a release clause. If Dortmund say that they want an astronomical amount, it will not happen," Hamann said.

"There are currently few players that could reinforce [Liverpool’s] offensive [lineup].

"I don't know if Sancho’s such a player, but maybe if there’s one going away from those three, then Sancho would be predestined for this offensive alliance."

Liverpool and Chelsea set for transfer battle over Bournemouth star

Sat, 10/19/2019 - 08:52

Liverpool and Chelsea are monitoring the situation of England midfielder Lewis Cook at Bournemouth.

The 22-year-old returned to action last month having been sidelined since December with knee-ligament damage.

Cook made his Three Lions debut last year and signed a new deal with the Cherries until 2022.

However, Sportsmail understands that both Liverpool and Chelsea have identified the former Leeds star as a target, should he prove his form and fitness this season.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be in the market for the best of emerging English talent and Cook’s high-energy style in the middle of the park is thought to be the attraction.

Havertz offered transfer advice

Fri, 10/18/2019 - 11:50

Kai Havertz is a man in demand, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all said to be on his trail, and Bayer Leverkusen teammate Kevin Volland has told the youngster to do whatever he feels is right.

The 20-year-old playmaker is expected to have a big career call to make at some stage in the near future.

His potential is being courted by leading sides across Europe and big-money bids are considered to be only a matter of times.

Volland is aware that Leverkusen have a prized asset on their hands and believes Havertz, despite his relative inexperience, is sensible enough to think long and hard before deciding which path to take.

A fellow midfielder told Goal of a talented colleague: "He should sit down with his parents and make a decision that he supports 100 per cent. My simple advice to him would be: Do what you really want to do.”

Volland admits he has never been in any doubt that Havertz was destined for big things, with a Leverkusen academy graduate having burst onto the scene in 2016 and gone on to become a senior Germany international and star turn in the Bundesliga.

He added on his first experiences of a hot prospect: “It was immediately obvious that Kai is a gifted footballer. He was tall but not as athletic as he is now.

“I can still remember a duel with him. I said to myself: ‘Oh, the youth player, I will easily defeat him in a duel’. However, I found that Kai was more robust than I thought. And he has always shown himself eager to learn.”

There are several directions in which Havertz could head from this point and it may be that he decides to spread his wings outside of his homeland, with there plenty of Premier League suitors ready to snap him up.

Liverpool and United target Havertz could leave Leverkusen next summer

Thu, 10/17/2019 - 10:05

Bayer Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz has admitted the decision over Kai Havertz's future is out of his hands.

The German winger is attracting interest from a host of elite European clubs after netting 20 goals in the Bundesliga last season, and earning a nomination for FIFA's Golden Boy award.

Liverpool and Man Utd are both thought to be keen on signing Havertz, while Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old's situation.

Havertz failed to secure a move elsewhere this summer, but has teased the idea that he could be leaving Leverkusen in the not too distant future.

"They haven’t scared me off," Havertz said about his current club. "I don't know exactly what it was like with Timo [Werner], but it just didn't happen for me this year.

"I think there were a number of reasons why. But I'm happy to be here and stay in Leverkusen for another year. We'll see what will happen next summer."

Arsenal, Man City and Real Madrid are among the list of other clubs monitoring the winger's progress.

Speaking on his possible options in the summer, Havertz told Bild: "I really don't know yet whether Bayern is the next and right step for me.

"I also don't know whether foreign countries would not be more suitable for me. I really don't think too much about it at the moment."

Regardless of who declares an interest in Havertz, manager Bosz is resigned to losing his young talent.

"Of course I would like to keep him, just as I would have liked to keep Julian Brandt, for example," Bosz told Sport Bild. "Kai is only 20 and still has room for improvement. I can help him there.

"But it is like this, at the end the player himself must feel when he is ready for the next step.

"Nobody can decide that for him."

Liverpool linked with bid for Leeds loanee

Wed, 10/16/2019 - 09:09

Brighton are determined to keep Ben White despite interest in the defender from Liverpool.

The 22-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with Leeds United and his impressive start to the season with the Yorkshire club has caught the attention of Liverpool.

And according to the Brighton and Hove newspaper, The Argus, Liverpool are willing to pay Brighton £20million for White.

However, the report also claims Brighton have no intention of selling their young prospect.

White, who has previously been sent out on loan to Newport County and Peterborough United, has already established himself as a key starting player for Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.

The former Southampton academy player has played in 10 of Leeds' 11 Championship games this season.

He has also been a vital part of the improvement seen in Leeds' defence this season - they have only conceded seven goals in 11 games, the fewest in the league.

And Bielsa has spoken highly of the centre-half, who can also fill in as a right-back. He thinks the youngster is composed on the ball and does not make a lot of mistakes, while also taking risks.
